Newsflash: "Bubba shot the Jukebox" is rock-n-roll

So, this post won't have pics- but a couple of funnies-

We were driving yesterday to get Hunter's birthday present when the girls decided to discuss age. "How old is Devan?" Jocilyn asked, I said, "she's 9 mos older than you, so she is 7, she'll be 8 this year." So we talked about who is older than who and Kenna announced that when she is 64 (random) she'll be older than all of us... I thought it was cute. I love how their little minds work.

Then Jocilyn wanted me to put some rock-n-roll on the radio. So I'm scanning through the channels when one of the country stations is playing "Bubba Shot the Jukebox," and she yells out, "Yeah mom!! THIS is rock-n-roll!!!" ... sure it is sister, enjoy!

Matthew and Travis are in Oregon again. People who don't know what they want are stupid. The fence they've been installing over the past couple of weeks would be finished today, but the owner of the property (it's an apt complex I think) came by and didn't like the angles. Well, they were replacing an existing fence- so wouldn't you think that the angles would have been the same on the first fence? and if he didn't love them then, why didn't he tell the guys to do the new one differently? So now it's going to take them back to Oregon at least once more and I'm really over that... oh well...

Now for a brief explanation of why I haven't posted since Easter... it's because I'm dead. I know you think that there would be blogging in heaven- but no, they are too busy with heavenly things there. And in hell, they just torment you with the thought of blogging, but don't let you do it. Why am I dead, you ask? What killed me? I've been officially worked to death. Two weeks ago we opened the clinic 3 more days a week- so now we are 6 days. We've only been M-W-F 13.5 hour days and those were shortened to 11 hour days which makes the day a lot more stressful- but I love getting off earlier. Then because 3 eleven hour days isn't full time, each staff member picks up a 7 hour day on either T-Th-Sat. They've brought in another nurse to pick up 2 of those so I'm working 4 days instead of 3 each week, but they are intense. And then as the charge nurse I have to make sure that the new patients have all of the admit junk done even in my absence- and as much as I appreciate this other nurse for coming in- she doesn't know what she's doing in the clinic because she is a nurse on the "acute team" meaning she does dialysis for our patients when they are in the hospital- she never has been in a clinic before... so I feel a lot overwhelmed.... but I think it will continue to improve.

My parents left on their mission a week ago. They've been in the MTC this past week and will be until Tues when they leave on their cross country trek. I'm envious of that- I think their mission will be great- but I think the trip will be fun too... I just love traveling with family, and I think it would be cool that you could stop anytime and have "home" with you (because they are pulling the 5th wheel that will be their home for the next 6 mos).

Marie has my camera because it had a bunch of pics from Hunters birthday party on it and I didn't think I'd be blogging- but I'll see what pics I have that are new and will post some when i have it back. In the meantime- XOXO to all of you- be good take care- and blog more often than me :-)

Hope you had a great Easter!!!

Here are the dresses to which I'd added sleeves the day before (the sleeves were remnants of fabric from Lynn's temple dress... thanks mom for your guidance, I couldn't have done this without you).

Some pics of the girls after church... When we walked into Sacrament meeting they were just getting up to open the meeting and as we walked to the front (because that's where deaf people sit... and Matthew always helps interpret- I hate sitting up front) But anyway, as we went up you could hear little whispers and "ooohh's" from the congregation- I felt like a happy mama thinking, "Yeah!!! My girls are cute!!!" ... I mean, I always know they are... just some weeks I don't feel like we have our "A" game on... and a lot of days we don't, bad hair, dirty faces, rumbled clothes, dirty kid nails that need cut... you know how it goes...

Here is one that is out of order from earlier in the morning when they checked out their baskets...

We had 2 egg hunts. First was at our Aunt Julie and Uncle Jeremy's.... lot's more competition at that one...

Jocilyn is so funny, she always looks like she's afraid to get dirty...

This is out of order, but is from Saturday night when the cousins joined us to color eggs... it was fun.

A pic of Matthew and Travis while the rest of us colored eggs. I think it is funny how they sit the same... no wonder everyone thinks they're brothers...
A pic of Jocilyn and Kenna right after "finding" their baskets Easter morning (the bunny hides them at our house- I'd never heard of that until I got married...)
Hope you all had a very happy Easter, ours was filled with lots of family and good food. We were also blessed to have a great sacrament meeting that carried a strong spirit and the true meaning of Easter... I'm so thankful for our Savior and for his sacrifice for me, my family, and friends like you- We tried to keep turning the kids attention back to the real meaning- I hope we get more successful at helping them realize that as they grow.

We live in a sleeveless world...

So catching up the week...

We danced- with hair in our face, in the air, everywhere!!!

We were stuck by a train... which is better than being struck by a train... but it was 5 minutes I'll never get back....

The girls Easter dresses are finished. I bought them last year for Easter and then ended up using different dresses that were the ones they wore for Scott and Brittany's wedding. So the other day I was cleaning out the closet under the stairs and there was something with a Macy's bag over it, I'm thinking, "what the heck is this?" Last years dresses!!! So now they are this years- but they are sleeveless, so my brilliant mama helped me figure out how to add some. I figure this is a skill that I'll likely need later on because as the title says, "we live in a sleeveless world" and my kids aren't allowed- at least at church, and when they're bigger not at all if i can help it. Somehow it seems still okay when they're little, but the bigger they get the more un-okay it feels. Anyway, I'll post pics of the finished dresses tomorrow when they have 2 little beauties in them for church.

Ps... Never leave Easter basket/candy/ whatever shopping on the day before Easter... I swear it was worse than Christmas Eve...

A slip in time

Approx 2 weeks ago I was helping a very corpulent (I went to the thesaurus for that one) woman in the restroom at work. She decided it would be amusing to intermittently go dead weight on us- I found the entire situation lacking in amusement. Anyway- she is no longer a patient with me, and that is fine (the kidney gods smiled upon her and jump started the pair she was born with). However, she left me with something to remember her by.... it's a slipped disc. The doctor informed me that this is what happens to "thirty-somethings" with back strains. "What do you do now?" you ask? Nothing. I do nothing, except wait the 6-ish weeks it takes to mend itself. I do feel like it is ever improving, and for that I'm really thankful.

A different note: We've been braiding away here at home. My girls (especially Jocilyn) really want curly hair. Jocilyn's is very straight, like mine, where McKenna's has a little bit of soft curl. This morning when i was pulling some of Joc's braids back she said, "Mom, with my hair like this I look like an American-African." I thought that was pretty cute.

McKenna is into stealing my sparkling fruity water. She is determined to "try all the tastes." She is such a gurgle-gut.

Matthew is studying for the RID exam so that he can go back to being an interpreter (everyone say a little prayer or two).

At work we came up with a brilliant idea. We decided to do our own "March Madness." The first week we all wore crazy hats and/or crazy socks. I wore my graduation cap, others were: a sombrero, snow cap with built in earmuffs, jokers hat, bowlers, mad hatters hat- It was fun, but i didn't' have my new camera yet- so there weren't' any pics. This week is 50's/80's themed. It has been quite a flash back, my hair hasn't been this big in a really long time!!! Wednesday i actually did bangs- they were crazy, i had brushed them out and made a big poof by the time i took pics- it's been fun.

I can't figure out how to flip the image and have it save... so, like me- a couple of pictures are sideways! I bought those legwarmers this week!!! Can you believe that? The other girls are Christy and MaLain- Christy totally hit the 80's nail on the head!!! (she located her old crimper for pete's sake!) And MaLain went for the cute 50's in peddle pants- I love the people I work with... that makes having to work a lot easier.

Talent, talent, talent

Who else wishes there were other font options? ... just wondering.

So tonight we had a ward primary talent show. It was a success, in large part due to the seemingly endless cotton candy and popcorn... (ooohhh, i do NOT envy the clean up crew!) I didn't' think i was going to be able to attend because it started at 6:30 and that's when I leave work from across town (on a good day I'm out by then). Tonight though I had a patient who's treatment ends at 4:30 and his ride didn't even show up until 7!!! Lucky me, the nurse can't leave as long as there are patients in the building.... so i stocked my drawers with syringes, etc.

Part way home Matthew called and said that the girls weren't until the end and I could probably make it. So I went... and i made it in plenty of time! Jocilyn wanted to do sign language for her talent, Kenna got nervous and ended up pretty much just standing by her sister. Jocilyn would sign and Matthew would interpret. She did a great job- I was a proud mama.
This is a pic of Jocilyn with our neighbor, her friend, Ava. She reminds me SOOO much of Regan... I love it- she's so funny without even knowing it. Truly, truly blonde.
So, let's hope that this weekend is better than last. Last weekend Matthew had to leave town with Travis because they were "on the lamb..." okay, not really- but they did have to go to Portland and that left me to deal with one of his hunting dogs that had eaten a blanket (among other things) and caused herself a bowel obstruction! Bad doggy! I know there are folks out there who would pay for the surgery- but unfortunately they won't pay for our dog to have it. So she had to be put down- leaving Matthew's other hunter all alone for the first time in her life. We've had Birdie for about 3 years now. She came to us with her brother who has since been adopted out and that's when Matthew got Pepper (who lives in heaven now). They've always been outside dogs... until now. There are no immediate plans to add another dog into the mix, and we couldn't leave her out there lonely and confused- so inside she's come! And I must say, she has done fantastic! Not a single accident, she's learning the rules as we go, but she is calm for the most part and great with the kids. I was wishing I had a camera the other day when Tyler was playing with her- it was to cute.
On that note- I hope to get pictures next time as we are going camera shopping tomorrow. In the meantime, I took some tonight with my moms... enjoy!
Oh, the cat... like mountain lion cat, is from Matthew's cougar hunt last January- we just got the mount not to long ago- I think she's so pretty. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Update

Marie is itching for a new post. I have bad news- the only camera I own is still dead, caput, meurte (sp), dead like unto a door nail, it's seen better days- I try to take pictures and it mocks me... Therefore, I'm blog-tarded. Forgive the lack of pretty things to look at and just read the words which spew forth like a fount.....

... whatever.... So for FHE we drew pictures of the whole "Tree of Life" scene. I would like to post them because the girls really did a great job- alas, I cannot (refer to the above paragraph... )
We've been doing so good about scriptures and prayer- it may not seem hard to some, but we've struggled, but since the new year I'm pretty proud of us. We're not tearin' through the B of M (even though the girls have such a mastery of the scriptural dialect they could speed read and retain) we are pacing ourselves so that I can keep up- I've beheld this new habit, and the habit is good.
